Day #50 – Lockdown

Woke up to another day, couldn’t tell what day it is today…
I looked at my phone. Oh, damn! It’s Monday again.

After 50 days you would expect that at some point you’ll get used to this… but nay, not happening.

This lack of freedom, is very depressing.

Had my coffee, had a quick look at the fridge that was nearly empty and screaming for help…
I couldn’t resist it, so I went out for shopping again.

Came back & made a yummy zucchini soup and some couscous with meatballs in a red sauce for lunch.

Then finally the Premier of Victoria announced the Government’s steps for lifting the lockdown, which made me more frustrated than I was before.

Because 5 people in my house is OK, good start, although not enough.
Outside gathering of 10 people is allowed, but for sport activities only, not for picnic purposes.
Footy training is back on track, really?! when they’re all sweating and spitting on each other or using the same ball, this is allowed.

So weird, seems like sports is fine in any form. But all the rest is not. I just want to get out of the house to meet friends, sit for a coffee, I miss society, I don’t miss sport!

Yes I am aware of all the issues… we can be careful, but please let us enjoy something…
This is my 50th day of isolation, I think I’m over it now.

I think having 10 people for a friendly catch-up or a picnic outside can be a lifesaver if you care about our metal health. Let us out!!!

Day #49 – Lockdown

I woke up early but stayed in bed a bit. Then all of a sudden my daughter came into the room with a super-special-mother’s-day-breakfast. Wowww.

There was coffee in my new cup. There was french toast and veggies.
Such a fantastic surprise.

When I finished she brought pancakes and maple syrup.
OMG I was so full.
I was definitely spoiled.

Then the boys brought a card and a present.
For a moment it felt very special.

Then my daughter decided to practice with the keyboard. After that, we sat outside in the sun listening to music.

Later on the day was normal-chores-day, washing, making lunch and dinner.

In the meantime my daughter decided to do some art & craft with yarn and was looking into redesigning her phone case. It was quiet for a very long time (I was happy about it…)
It took her few hours to finish, and it came out amazing!

Day #47-48 – Lockdown

Although it was Friday, I took the day off to rest… No cooking. No Cleaning. Just helping school assignments and talking to family and friends.

After Friday night dinner, we played a bit of Sushi Game Party which is so much fun.

Shabbat morning we all slept in. it was a rainy night and a rainy day…

When I woke up it was 9am. I had my coffee with a fabulous Yeast Babka I made and enjoyed every bite.

Then I started working on our puzzle just for a little while. My daughter then woke up and the boys didn’t, so in the mean time my daugher and I played with kinetic sand. We built The Great Wall of China which filled our living room with heaps of sand, but at least we had fun. At lunch everyone loved the different food I made. That was a fantastic surprise.

Then we went back to the puzzle, my daughter built a tent in the other living room, then played some checkers and the boys played chess. The kids played funny games until they wanted to kill each other and I felt like I need to go on a holiday… by myself.

Day #46 – Lockdown

I just opened my eyes, turned the kettle on, took a cup, poured the hot water and BAMMMMM the cup broke into 2…

Oh no. It made Such a big mess. I had to fast-forward my waking up process and clean the bench and the floor…

Really? It made me think, maybe that’s going to look like my day, so maybe it’s better I go back to bed… but probably not, it’s Thursday- Cooking day. Yayyyy.

Since I had enough of the same food, I sat down with my new cup of coffee and looked at my old recipes… some of the things I didn’t make for a long time, then I realised it’s time to refresh the menu. I made pineapple chicken, sautéed vegetables spaghetti and arais meat.

It was a very busy day; and to top it up I made challahs and chocolate babka.

I think I’m ready for Shabbat. Can we start it now?!

Day #45 – Lockdown

It was just another day, kids at online-school, had a coffee in my new cup, which made me smile again.
Had a go on our puzzle for a few minutes. nothing was happening…

Then I felt like making savory cheese muffins that were finished before I noticed and that’s a very good sign.

Then my daughter saw I don’t feel like making dinner so she put on an apron, got her iPad, set up the table and opened an online restaurant menu for us. We just had to decide what we would like to order. After we ordered the food, she asked us to go about what we were doing and come back in an hour. After an hour, she called us to come to the table and receive our order.

After the main course we had dessert.

OMG. It was incredible. What a fantastic meal.
With amazing hot brownie and vanilla ice cream.
I was definitely impressed by the effort.

Day #44 – Lockdown

Today the sun came out and it made me happier during the day… I went out to water the veggie patch, which looked very happy after the latest rain…

Today was homemade junk-food day. For lunch I made burgers in a bun with coleslaw on the side. For dinner I made homemade pizza and garlic bread with Israeli salad.
It was delicious!

The mail arrived again today, my daughter bought me an early Mother’s Day present. I was very surprised. I Opened it, the box already looked amazing, with some lovehearts…
Opened the box carfully, There I saw this:

I couldn’t hold my laughter for long. It’s so original and different, only my daughter would think that…

I was definitely touched. I wonder what’s going to happen on Sunday, the real Mother’s Day…

Day #43 – Lockdown

Woke up as usual, got dressed.. yup. Gotta go shopping again. How exciting!

After I made sure the kids started online school, I went out… Coles was very busy, started to follow my list then I saw a friend, it was so nice to chat with someone face to face, nearly forgot that feeling…

Came back, unpacked my groceries which was a big job, then made a yummy chicken soup, so yummy that straight away everyone wanted to get a bowl of soup. The happiest moment of all … well, my polish roots have come to life.
Then it was time for me to help with some school assignments.

After school was over, we started to watch the Lego Masters episode we missed yesterday…

Then, to our surprise we received part of our Spotlight delivery, which contained a crochet hook and threads. Because I wanted to teach my daughter how to knit a Kippah.
Wwhen I was in high school it was something we learned and practiced all the time. It was the “cool girls” thing… until I could make beautiful kipot with some “carpet” designs and the most beautiful colours. I even knew how to design it first on a notebook and then knit it.

I thought it’s something I won’t really remember how to do, it’s been few years since I was in high school… but once I helped with the crochet hook and the thread, it all came back to me.

Shocking… How some things you never forget.

This is a big achievement, I taught my daughter how to do it… Hooray!

Day #42 – Lockdown

Today I couldn’t be bothered to do anything, so it was just another day… no cooking (ha ha ha… ) / eating leftovers.

All same old activities:

Playing table tennis, Xbox games, doing some mindfulness colouring, my husband and my son learned to play The Coffin Dance on the keyboard until they got it right, and I went nuts listening to the their learning curve… but the result was nice!

My parents (overseas) played some skribble.io with my daughter and some online chess with my son.

That’s how my kids reconnect these days with their grandparents.

Day #41 – Lockdown

It was so cold outside but so nice and warm inside…

We had a busy day, husband & kids finished the Lego. Beautiful Porsche. That can be driven.

I had a fantastic progress in my puzzle.

My son learned yesterday how to do some juggling with 3 and 4 tennis balls and made it… Today, for a few hours, he taught his sister how to do it with a lot of patience.

It was very nice to watch a rare vision.

Day #40 – Lockdown

Today is my 40th day of isolation,
And today, I just miss EVERYTHING.

one of those days…
I miss the routine I had,
I miss leaving the house, not just for shopping…
I miss summer,
I miss the beach,
I miss being on holiday,
I miss new experiences,
I miss day trips,
I miss the freedom,
I miss my family,
I miss my friends,
I miss just being with other people,
I miss going out with friends.

Luckily I have so many memories to look at and Enjoy…
